RICHIE EDMONSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: In January of 2014, Richie and his family received the news that he had ALS, a progressive neuromuscular disease. He passed away on January 15, 2015. Richie attended the University of Mississippi for both his undergraduate and law degrees. He practiced law with Markow Walker P.A. for 24 years, and the firm has honored his legacy with a scholarship fund, to aid a 1st year law student who meets the standards that Richie met throughout his life time. On August 11, 2016, Garner Berry received a defense verdict in the Circuit Court of Coahoma County in an auto accident case. Plaintiff was a passenger in her friend's vehicle, and as they were pulling from a gas station, their vehicle was struck by the Defendant. Plaintiff suggested that Defendant sped up in order to "beat the light". Alleged injuries included back pain and an L-5 compression fracture. At trial, the defense contended that Defendant was proceeding in a safe manner when Plaintiff's vehicle suddenly turned into him. Additionally, the injuries and lumbar fracture were disputed as degenerative. The jury returned a complete defense verdict, but even went one step further to find Plaintiff's damages as "$0". > more
